The 10 Inch Oval Panel Former from Colour de Verre is a reusable ceramic forming mold designed to shape glass panels to fit the Colour de Verre 10 Oval Lighting Hardware. It gives glass artists a consistent, repeatable way to produce oval panels with a precise fit, removing guesswork from the shaping process and delivering a reliable result across multiple firings.
The mold spans 10 inches across its oval form. Like all Colour de Verre ceramic molds, it is COE agnostic, so it works with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass as long as your firing schedule matches the glass you are using. The mold requires a fresh coat of kiln primer before every use and is reusable across many firings when cared for properly.
What does the 10 Inch Oval Panel Former do? It shapes a glass panel into a 10 inch oval form sized to fit the Colour de Verre 10 Oval Lighting Hardware, giving each finished panel a consistent, repeatable fit.
What COE glass can I use with this mold? Any COE. Ceramic forming molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using and adjust the anneal soak accordingly.
Does this mold need primer before every use? Yes. Colour de Verre specifies that this mold must be primed before every firing. Apply a compatible boron nitride mold release or kiln wash, let it dry completely, and then place your glass panel.
What hardware does this mold pair with? It is designed specifically to produce panels that fit the Colour de Verre 10 Oval Lighting Hardware. If you are working with that hardware, this former gives you a reliable way to shape each panel to the correct oval profile.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a forming schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Prime the mold before every firing with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer , and let it dry completely before placing the glass so the panel releases cleanly.
The mold is COE agnostic. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are shaping, and adjust the anneal soak for your COE.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the shaped panel. Re-prime the mold before each subsequent firing.
Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting schedule based on Colour de Verre general guidance, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first before committing to a full production run.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour during the initial ramp to allow the glass to heat evenly.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
Follow with a controlled cool and an anneal soak appropriate to your glass: about 950 F for COE96 glass, or about 900 F for COE90 glass.
