COE96 Glass Circles

COE96 Circles & Essential Shapes holds the basic geometry for the 96 fuser: circles first, then hearts, ovals and stars. Circles are stocked in clear, clear iridescent, a broad opalescent palette and a set of dichroic coated rounds on black or clear glass, and the rest of the category fills in the shapes you use on nearly every project. Some shapes show up in two slightly different color lists.

What this category holds

Opalescent circles come in Black, White, Red, Bright Yellow, Sunflower Yellow, Amazon Green, Medium Blue, Lilac, Ivory and Pewter Gray, with a Confetti circle for a speckled option and plain Clear and Clear Iridescent rounds for caps and bases. Clear and White Opalescent are the top sellers in the category, followed by Clear Iridescent, Black, Medium Blue and Red. The dichroic circles are offered on black or clear glass in Candy Apple Red, Cyan/Copper, Emerald Green, Rainbow 2, Silver and Yellow/Blue.

Hearts are stocked in Red Opalescent, Red Transparent, White Opalescent and a Clear heart, with a Long Heart in Red Transparent and a 1 inch Pink Opalescent heart in a pack of 3. Ovals come in Black, Clear and White. Stars come in Blue, Red, White and Yellow Opalescent, a Star of David, and a 1/2 inch star in a pack of 5 for small accents.

Sizes, packs and which finish to use

Circle diameters run 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2 and 3 inches. The two smallest ship in packs of 5 and the three larger sizes in packs of 3. Hearts range from a 1/2 inch heart in packs of 5 to a 3 inch heart in packs of 3, and ovals are listed as small, medium and large. A clear or clear iridescent circle is the right pick when it sits over another color or forms the floor of a piece; an opalescent circle is the pick when the dot is the design; dichroic on black gives the deepest flash while dichroic on clear stays see-through in a window or suncatcher.

COE96 compatibility and kiln notes

Everything here is COE96 and is formulated to fuse with other compatible glass in the COE96 family. Build each piece from one COE system only; the same number across two brands is not by itself proof of compatibility, so fire a test tile before committing a new combination. Circles and hearts tack fuse with their edges intact and full fuse flat into a base. Fire dichroic rounds coated side up, or cap them with clear from the same family, to hold the color.

Project ideas

Circles are dots, bubbles, eyes, moons and the centers of simple flowers on plates and panels. The 3 inch rounds serve as coaster and small dish bases, and clear rounds cap frit and dichroic on pendants. Hearts and stars go straight onto ornaments, magnets and gift tags, and the 1/2 inch stars scatter across night-sky pieces. Ovals make quick cabochon and pendant blanks.
