COE96 Premium Designs

COE96 Premium Glass Bails carries a single product: Precut Bails COE96, sold in packs. Each bail is a small loop of fusible glass that fires onto the back of a pendant, an ornament or a small panel and becomes the hanging point, so the finished piece hangs from a cord, chain or jump ring without a drilled hole or a glued finding. These are glass bails. The metal bails we sell from Aanraku are a different product that attaches with adhesive after firing; a glass bail fuses in and becomes part of the piece.

Choosing a pack size

The Pack of 5 lets you work out placement and schedule on a handful of pendants before you commit. The Pack of 20 suits a batch of pendants for a show, a set of ornaments, or a class where every student finishes with something to hang. Plan on one bail per piece and keep a couple aside for test tiles.

COE96 compatibility and fusing notes

Use these bails with COE96 glass only; they do not belong in a COE90 project. Do not rely on the COE number alone when pairing the bail with glass from another maker, and fire a small test if the combination is new to you. The bail goes on the back of the piece close to the top edge with the loop pointing up. Whether it can share the pendant's firing or needs its own cooler attachment run depends on the schedule, so check the maker's instructions for this bail first. How open the finished loop stays depends on how hot you take it, so settle your placement and schedule on a test piece first and follow the maker's instructions for this bail. Clean both surfaces before firing.

Project ideas

A fused bail finishes pendants, small suncatchers, holiday ornaments and dichroic cabochons. Fuse one onto a precut circle for a pendant blank, onto the back of a snowflake or a heart for a hanging ornament, or onto a small fused panel so it can go on a chain. When the kiln is cool, thread a cord, ribbon, chain or jump ring through the loop and the piece is ready to wear or hang.
