COE90 Ribbons

Glass ribbons are long, flat strips of glass that bring clean line work to kilnformed designs. This category carries Bullseye Glass ribbons in COE90, each about 18 inches long and 4 to 5 mm wide, sold in tubes. Because they are handmade, individual strips vary slightly in width and straightness, which gives ribbon work its organic character.

Choosing ribbons for your design

Opalescent ribbons hold a solid, graphic line on top of any background, which suits grids, borders, and lettering. Transparent ribbons interact with the layers beneath them, so the same strip reads differently over light and dark bases. The flat profile sits flush against sheet glass, making ribbons easier to place precisely than round stringers when a design calls for wider, bolder lines.

Usage notes

Ribbons are COE90 and fuse with Bullseye and other COE90 compatible glass. Tack fusing preserves raised, dimensional lines, while a full fuse levels them into the surface. Strips can be trimmed with ordinary glass nippers to build patterns piece by piece. Keep each project within the COE90 system rather than mixing with COE96.
