COE96 murrini and millefiore are thin cross-sectioned slices of patterned glass cane, used as ready-made imagery in fused glass work. This category collects fusible 96 COE slices made for compatibility with COE96 sheet glass, frit, and stringers. Inside you will find figurative designs, florals, holiday motifs, and color-mixed assortments sized for fusing accents and jewelry inclusions.
Murrini (often called millefiore, meaning thousand flowers) are wafer thin slices cut from a long glass cane that carries a pattern through its full length. Each slice reveals the same image in cross section, so one cane yields many near identical chips. They are a fast way to drop detailed imagery into a fused piece without painting, cutting, or layering small parts by hand.
The COE96 selection is led by G. A. G. murrini, with additional canes from Twisted Cane. Figurative motifs cover butterflies, dragonflies, bees, owls, barn swallows, dolphins, fish, crabs, bats, and skulls. Floral and botanical slices include cape jasmine, Chinese bellflower, apple tree, and autumn maple leaves. Seasonal and themed lines run through Halloween, Christmas, holiday, celestial, star, heart, square, sports (baseball, basketball, beach ball), and beach assortment mixes. Both single design slices and pre blended assortment mixes are stocked, across opal, transparent, and contrast color pairings.
Every slice on this page is formulated for COE96 fusing systems, so it can be combined with COE96 sheet glass, frit, stringers, and dichroic of the same coefficient. Do not mix these with COE90 (Bullseye) or float glass; the differing expansion can crack the work as it cools. If you are unsure of the COE of a piece in your scrap bin, run a compatibility test before committing it to a finished panel.
Murrini are typically capped with clear or laid on a base layer, then taken to a full fuse so the slice melts smoothly into the surrounding glass. Thicker placements hold more dimension at a tack or contour fuse, while thinner slices settle flush into the surface at a full fuse. They are also drilled or wire wrapped as cabochons, pendants, and earring drops once fire polished. Anneal per your kiln's standard COE96 schedule for the project thickness.
Drop murrini into pendants, ring dishes, suncatchers, plates, bowls, garden stakes, and ornament inserts to add a detailed focal image without extra cutting. Assortment mixes suit production runs and student kits where you want variety without buying many individual designs; single motif slices give consistent placement for repeat work and matched sets.
