Ceramic kilns are electric firing chambers built for clay bodies and ceramic glazes, with the temperature range and controller programming needed to take greenware through bisque and glaze firings. Our ceramic kiln lineup is built around Skutt, covering compact Firebox starter models, the KilnMaster series, Studio Series, and heavier Production Series workhorses for shops that fire often.

What a Ceramic Kiln Does

Ceramic kilns reach and hold the cone temperatures clay and glazes need, then ramp and cool on a controlled schedule so pieces mature without thermal shock. Skutt models use a digital controller with cone-fire and ramp-hold programs, so you can dial in bisque, mid-range stoneware, or glaze firings without babysitting the kiln.

What's in This Category at AGS

This category carries Skutt ceramic kilns across the full size range. Firebox Starter Series kilns are sized for testing, jewelry, beads, and small classroom pieces. KilnMaster tabletops and floor models cover school and studio work in a wide spread of chamber sizes. Studio and Production Series kilns handle taller and wider loads for potters firing repeatable batches, and dedicated test kilns are available for glaze and clay development.

Choosing a Size and Power

Pick chamber size by your largest expected piece and your typical batch, then confirm the electrical service you can run. Many KilnMaster, Studio, and Production models are offered in single-phase and three-phase (the -3 suffix) versions, and PK variants are configured for production schedules with heavier element packages. If you are upgrading, measure your breaker, plug, and the door clearance in your kiln room before ordering.

Firing and Use

Skutt ceramic kilns will reach cone 10 on most models, which covers low-fire earthenware, mid-range stoneware, porcelain, and overglaze work. Vent the kiln to the outside, leave clearance to walls, and post pieces on kiln shelves with stilts or kiln wash to protect the floor. With consistent loading and tracked cone packs, the same program will give you repeatable bisque and glaze results firing after firing.
