Etched Glass

Our Etched Glass section holds the glass we etch in house, where a pattern is etched into a coated glass so the design shows in clean line and detail. It includes etched dichroic, etched iridescent, etched luminescent, and our made-to-order freestyle etched glass.

What etched glass is

We start with coated glass, dichroic, iridescent, or luminescent, and etch a pattern into the coating. The coated areas keep their shimmer or color, while the etched areas reveal the base glass beneath, creating contrast and detail you can build into fused glass, jewelry, and kiln-formed work.

Choose from Freestyle Etched, where you pick your own pattern, glass, size, and COE made to order; COE90 and COE96 Etched Dichroic for color-shifting coatings; Etched Iridescent for a soft metallic sheen; and Etched Luminescent for a pearlescent rainbow shimmer.

Firing notes

Each type fires a little differently, and luminescent in particular must be reverse-fused so the coating does not burn off. See each product page and our etched-tips guide for firing details, and test a small piece first when the final look matters.

Etched glass is used in fused glass, jewelry, suncatchers, cabochons, accents, and decorative panels where you want pattern and detail with reflective or shimmering color.
