The COE96 Southwest Shapes category collects ready-cut fusible glass motifs with a desert feel, shaped to drop straight into your fused glass projects with less cutting and shaping work. Every piece runs on the COE96 system, so it pairs cleanly with the rest of your COE96 sheet glass, frit, and stringers.
The lineup centers on cactus motifs, including a clean cactus silhouette and a cactus topped with a flower bloom. Both read well as standalone focal points in fused panels or as accent elements layered into a larger Southwest or desert scene.
These precut shapes are cut from COE96 fusible glass and are intended for firing with other COE96 components. Do not combine them with COE90 glass in the same kiln load, since the mismatched coefficient of expansion can cause stress, cracking, or thermal-shock problems during cooling. For more cut elements in the same system, browse the parent COE96 Glass Precut Shapes category.
Set a cactus over a streaky sunset or sky-tone COE96 base for a Southwest panel, suncatcher, nightlight, or coaster. Add a sand-tone strip along the bottom, accent the ground with brown or amber frit, and finish with stringer for ocotillo branches or saguaro ribs. The flowering version makes a strong focal point in small ornaments, magnets, and pocket-size fused pieces.
Because the shapes arrive pre-cut, your prep is mostly cleaning and arranging. Wash each piece in warm water to clear any residue, dry it fully, then tack fuse or full fuse on a standard COE96 schedule for the thickness of your stack. A clear COE96 cap can deepen color and create a smoother surface when that look fits the project; test first if appearance or thickness matters.
