COE96 Glass Animal Shapes

COE96 Animal & Wildlife Shapes brings together every precut COE96 creature we carry: bears, cats and dogs, birds, butterflies and dragonflies, and a run of fish and shore animals for plates, suncatchers and memorial work. What the category covers

The black bear is the clear favorite in this group and comes in a small pack of five or a large pack of three. The Tanner cat and the bucking bronco horse follow close behind, with a golden retriever, a fox, a coyote pack of five, a bunny silhouette pair, a black opalescent cat pack, a black paw and a white paw, and a unicorn filling out the pets and land animals. Birds include the hummingbird, cardinal, owl, Penguin Penny, two bird silhouette styles and mini birds in packs of three. Butterflies come as a set and as two single butterfly styles, joined by a dragonfly in standard and large sizes, a bumble bee and a ladybug. How to choose

Read the options on each product page; some shapes are fixed color and some offer a choice. The fox is listed as gray or pale amber, the bear by pack size, and the butterflies and mini birds in colors such as yellow, blue, green, sky blue, moss green and tangerine orange. Multi color pieces such as the hummingbird carry a design on their own; single color silhouettes, including the bird outlines, bats, bunnies and coyotes, are meant to sit over a contrasting base where the outline does the work. A white paw or white based shape is the pick when your background is dark.

COE96 compatibility and firing

Every shape in this category is COE96 and is formulated to fuse with other compatible glass in the same COE96 family. Keep it with COE96 sheet, frit and stringer from tested compatible glass and leave COE90 and float out of the kiln; a matching COE number by itself is not a promise that two glasses from different sources will fire together. Tack fuse to keep whiskers, wings and legs sharp and standing proud, or full fuse under a clear cap for a flush finish. Transparent choices show the base beneath. How a color behaves in the kiln depends on the glass and the heatwork, and some glass is formulated to strike, so fire a test piece when the exact fired color matters.
