The 5 Inch Round Panel Former from Colour de Verre is a reusable ceramic forming tool designed to shape glass panels that fit precisely into 5 Inch Round Lighting Hardware. It gives glass artists a reliable way to produce consistently sized panels, and the ceramic construction holds up over many firings when primed and maintained properly.
The forming surface measures 5 inches in diameter. Pre-cut or pre-fused glass panels are placed on the former and fired so the glass conforms to the shape. Prime the former before every firing with a suitable mold primer to prevent sticking and protect the ceramic surface. Like other ceramic kiln formers, it is COE agnostic and works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass.
What does the 5 Inch Round Panel Former make? It shapes glass panels to fit precisely into 5 Inch Round Lighting Hardware. Each fired panel has the clean, accurate 5 inch round profile the lighting hardware requires.
What COE glass can I use with this former? Any COE. The ceramic former is COE agnostic, so it works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using and adjust the anneal soak accordingly.
How do I prepare the former before firing? Coat the forming surface with a mold primer before every use. Colour de Verre recommends ZYP BN Lubricoat or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry completely before placing glass on the former.
Is this former reusable? Yes. The ceramic construction is built for long-term reliability across many firings. Prime it before each firing, let the kiln cool fully before removing the shaped panel, and re-coat before the next use.
