Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.
Prime the mold surface before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let it dry completely before placing glass so the glass does not stick.
Place your pre-fused flat glass blank onto the prepared mold surface. The glass will soften and settle into the plate or shallow bowl profile as the kiln heats.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping schedule matched to your glass type, and adjust the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
Re-prime the mold as needed between firings. Let the kiln cool fully to room temperature before removing slumped pieces.
Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first before committing to a full batch.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C). Slumping typically occurs at lower temperatures than fusing, so monitor your piece and adjust your target temperature to achieve the profile you want.
Add an anneal soak at the end: about 950 F for COE96, or about 900 F for COE90.
Cool slowly and let the kiln reach room temperature before opening.
