- Prime all wells before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer, and let the primer dry completely before adding frit. Colour de Verre recommends priming before every use.
- Fill each of the 16 wells with about 5 grams of frit. For color blend testing, load each well with a different mix to compare results side by side after firing.
- The mold is COE agnostic. Use a fusing schedule matched to your glass.
- Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast tiles. Re-prime the wells before the next firing.
Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run before committing to a full batch.
- Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour through the heating phase.
- Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C) at the top temperature.
- Add a controlled cool with an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 900 F for COE90 or about 950 F for COE96.
