Almond Opalescent Dots COE96

Almond Opalescent dots are a soft, warm off-white with a faint yellow cast, closer to unbleached linen than to a true white. In the bag the color is quiet and even, with only a slight variation in how milky each slice looks, which makes them a calm counterpoint to saturated opals rather than a color that competes.

Each dot is a slice of 6 mm cane, about 2 to 3 mm thick, so the height varies a little from piece to piece. These are COE96 dots. Combine them only with COE96 glass, since mixing coefficients builds stress that can crack a fired piece weeks later. Almond is the dot to reach for when a white would be too stark: pale berries, seed pearls, or the eye highlights on a warm toned animal.

How does almond read on a base?
Opaque and matte in feel, so the dot sits as a solid pale spot regardless of what is underneath it. On dark bases such as black or cobalt the almond reads as a warm cream and gives you a gentler contrast than a bright white dot. On clear it stays a soft ivory. It is a natural pick for eyes, seed pearls, pale berries and the light spots in a neutral polka field.
