A muted slate blue, gray leaning and opaque, every ball the same soft shade with a few of the larger ones flattened on top and showing a faintly grainy cap. It is a dusty, mountain lake blue rather than a bright sky blue.
Frit balls are spheres of fused glass frit sized about 3 to 6 mm, with roughly 100 to 130 in the half ounce bag. These are COE96, made from System 96 compatible glass, for Oceanside and other tested COE96 work. Alpine is the calm blue: pebbles on a shore, distant hills, a winter sky.
Over white the color stays soft and tonal, and over black it brightens into a clear gray blue dot. Scatter it with white and pale green balls for stone and frost texture. As with any dot, a tack fuse keeps the dome while a full fuse sinks it flush. It also earns a place as the shadow tone in a cloudscape, where a pure blue would look too sweet.
