Glossy jet black, opaque and uniform, a dense field of rounded balls with bright pinpoint highlights and a few larger ones flattened on top with a faintly textured cap. No color shows through at any edge.
Frit balls start as glass frit and finish as rounded beads of about 3 to 6 mm, with roughly 100 to 130 in the half ounce bag. The glass is System 96 compatible, COE96, and stays with tested COE96 glass. Pupils, seeds, ladybug spots and pebbled borders are the obvious jobs, anywhere a design needs a crisp dark point.
Black dots hold a clean edge at a full fuse over white, cream and bright colors, and on a black base a tack fuse keeps the dome shape readable. Space them a little apart if they must stay separate, since neighbors flow together at full fuse temperatures. In mosaic work they set into adhesive unfired as small glossy tesserae, and a bag kept in reserve covers the finishing details on almost any project.
