Bullseye Alchemy Clear Silver to Gold (style 001015) is a 90 COE fusible glass sheet, a transparent color for fusing, slumping, and kilnforming.
Cold characteristics Unfired sheet has a faint blue tint.
Working notes 001015 Alchemy Clear, Silver to Gold is designed to react with silver foil when fired together to turn the silver a golden color. Expect variation in fired results across production runs. Part of a series that includes Alchemy Clear, Silver to Bronze (001016). Expect variations in effects to result from different sources and thicknesses of silver, glass production runs, and heatwork (including firing times, temperatures, and number of times fired). We have also observed inconsistency in golden reaction color within the silver when scaled up in larger projects. For color development, we recommend a 1-hour soak at 1225°F in the pre-rapid heat section of a firing cycle. Note: When firing silver foil in the kiln, be aware that the silver reaction can travel across the glass surface and onto the kiln shelf, potentially affecting silver-sensitive glasses in one or more subsequent firings. This can happen even when new shelf release (paper or primer) is applied to the kiln shelf. When fired between layers, silver is generally more contained and less likely to affect the firing surface. 001015-0031 Alchemy Clear, Silver to Gold, with rainbow iridescent coating Because iridescent coating acts as a barrier, there will be minimal to no reaction when using silver directly against the coated side of the glass. That said, the silver might still make contact with the glass through thinner sections of the iridescent coating. This may result in pale gold effects caused by 1015’s silver reactivity, detailed above. Results vary widely, both in terms of the effect’s strength and color.
Reactions This is a Bullseye Alchemy glass. It reacts with silver foil or wire to shift color, which is the effect it is made for.
Format and sizes Double-rolled sheet, 3mm standard thickness, with a rolled edge. Available in the sizes shown above.
Fusing and compatibility Tested compatible with other Bullseye glass. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
