Bullseye Turquoise Blue (style 000116) is a 90 COE fusible glass sheet, an opalescent color for fusing, slumping, and kilnforming.
Cold characteristics Uniform color.
Working notes A copper glass. May have dark color reaction at interface with cadmium/selenium or sulfur glasses including 000125, 000120, 000124, 001120, 001125, 001122, 001137, 001437, 000137. During processes that require greater heatwork, such as pattern or flow bar techniques, Turquoise Blue Opalescent has the potential to deposit trace amounts of copper into the fired separator on the kilnshelf. These deposits may react with sulfur-bearing glasses like French Vanilla Opalescent (000137) and Spring Green Opalescent (000126) in subsequent firings. Such deposits may not be visible and can react if the shelf has not been properly scraped then primed or, alternatively, if new ThinFire has been applied over the contaminated primer. When the contaminated separator has been properly removed (scraping-primer, vacuuming-ThinFire) the shelf can be reprepared and used as normal. A shelf with contaminated fired separators can be fired with glasses, other than sulfur-bearing glasses, and no reaction will take place. In our studios, we've observed the greatest contamination in subsequent firings with sulfur-bearing French Vanilla Opalescent (000137) and Spring Green Opalescent (000126). Reaction Note: Copper-bearing Turquoise Blue fired on French Vanilla (sulfur-bearing) and White (does not contain lead, copper, or sulfur). Notice the earth-tone hued reactions where the various forms of Turquoise Blue and French Vanilla meet. There is no reaction with White on the lower portion of the tile.
Reactions This is a reactive glass. It contains Copper (Cu) and may react where it meets Selenium (Se) / Sulfur (S), Reactive styles (000009, 001009, 001019), forming a visible line or halo at the boundary. Use that on purpose to outline and add depth, or keep reactive colors apart to avoid it.
Format and sizes Thin-rolled sheet, 2mm, with a rolled edge. The thinner sheet is ideal for overlays, fine detail, and controlling stack thickness. Available in the sizes shown above.
Fusing and compatibility Tested compatible with other Bullseye glass. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
