Butter Dish Mold Set

How do I use the GM148 top drape form?
Place a double layer of glass over the prepared form and fire it using a drape schedule. The glass softens and settles into the lid shape as it heats, producing the butter dish top.

How do I use the LF118 base frit cast form?
Fill the prepared base form with glass frit and fire it so the frit fuses and casts into the base shape. Creative Paradise suggests about 510 grams of glass frit for the base piece, which produces a finished piece measuring 7 inches by 4.5 inches.

What COE glass and prep do these molds need?
Any COE works. Ceramic molds are COE agnostic, so the same molds work with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Prime both mold surfaces with a boron nitride primer or kiln wash and let it dry completely before placing glass.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime both mold surfaces with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass so the glass does not stick.
• For the GM148 top form, drape a double layer of glass over the prepared surface and fire using the drape schedule below.
• For the LF118 base form, fill the prepared form with about 510 grams of glass frit (Creative Paradise recommends powder and fine frit, filled uniformly, for a tack fire) and fire using the full fuse or tack fire schedule below.
• Both molds are COE agnostic. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing pieces. Re coat both molds with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

GM148 Butter Dish Top - Drape (double layer, COE96):

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
