• Prime all mold surfaces with a boron nitride mold release before every use, and let the primer dry completely before adding glass. Colour de Verre specifies ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer for this mold family.
• Load about 500 grams of frit into the mold. Colour de Verre suggests blending 5 to 10 percent fine transparent or opal frit with fine clear frit for soft, translucent colors, or mixing two or three medium dark frits with medium clear frit for a granite-like finish.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a casting schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast piece. Re-prime the mold before each subsequent firing.

Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Guidelines

This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first before committing to a full batch.

• Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour through the heating phases.
• Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C) at the top of the schedule.
• Hold at the top temperature briefly, then drop to an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 950 F for COE96 or about 900 F for COE90.
• Cool slowly through the anneal range, then let the kiln reach room temperature before opening.
