Cats Decal Sheet

This 5.25 by 4 inch decal sheet carries 26 solid cat silhouettes printed in a warm metallic finish. Most read as bright gold, while a few at the bottom of the sheet catch the light as deeper copper and bronze tones. Each small cat, roughly 0.5 to 0.75 inch, is shown in a distinct natural pose: seated upright, walking with head raised, stretching forward, crouching low, grooming, or resting. The silhouettes are clean and simple, rendered as solid fills without interior line detail, which gives them a bold graphic quality on glass. Arranged in loosely spaced rows, the cats face varying directions for an informal, lively layout.

These are water-slide decals, fired onto the surface of pre-fired glass to add a decorative motif. Because they sit on top of an already-fused piece rather than between glass layers, they require no COE matching and work with any COE glass. To apply, cut the decal you want from the sheet, soak it briefly in room-temperature water until it releases from its backing, slide it into position on clean, dry, pre-fired glass, and smooth out any remaining water and air bubbles. Allow the piece to dry completely before placing it in the kiln.

Will this decal sheet work with my COE 90 or COE 96 glass?
Yes. Because these decals are surface-fired onto the top of already-fused glass rather than fused between layers, no glass-to-glass COE compatibility is involved. They work on any COE glass.

What finish do the cat silhouettes have?
The cats are printed in a warm metallic finish, mostly gold with some deeper copper tones. This is a single-tone metallic sheet, so fire it in the 1240 to 1370 degree range, held about ten minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. The sheet measures 5.25 by 4 inches and carries 26 individual cat silhouettes. Each cat is roughly 0.5 to 0.75 inch at its longest dimension, a size suited to small accent work, fused glass jewelry, or grouped arrangements on larger panels.

Can I use only part of the sheet and save the rest?
Yes. Cut only the decals you need for a given project and store the remainder of the sheet in a cool, dry location away from humidity and direct light. The paper backing keeps unused decals stable until you are ready to fire them.

Working Notes

Apply decals to clean, dry, pre-fired glass only. Residue from oils or prior kiln wash can interfere with adhesion, so wipe the glass surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely before applying. Once the decal is positioned and smoothed flat, let the piece dry thoroughly before loading the kiln. Do not rush the drying step, as trapped moisture can cause bubbling during firing.

Suggested Firing Schedule (the manufacturer's suggested starting point, not a guarantee: every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and always anneal for the thickness of your glass): This single-tone metallic sheet fires to a peak of 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. Ramp at 50 DPH to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. Ramp at 150 DPH to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp at 250 DPH to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp at 600 DPH to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Ramp at 1000 DPH to 1240 to 1370 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Anneal for the thickness of the glass.
