The Geneva texture covers this Spirit base in a crinkled relief that fragments the Crinklized Green/Magenta Blue coating into countless tiny facets. Each small ridge takes the light at a slightly different angle, so the coating breaks into a fine mosaic rather than a smooth wash.
The coating sits on one side and moves between green and a magenta blue as the glass tips or the light travels. Across the Geneva crinkle, those two tones flicker side by side, with the green catching some facets and the magenta blue holding others.
Every kiln behaves a little differently with crinklized textures, so run a small test piece first.

Working Notes
Firing Guidelines and Helpful Tips
Dichroic results vary by kiln, firing schedule, base glass, capping, layering, and coating orientation. These are guidelines, not guarantees. Follow the glass and coating manufacturer's guidance, and test a small piece first when the final look matters.
- Coating side orientation and clear capping can each change the final look, so test first when the result matters.
- Appearance may vary after firing, and the metallic color shift can read differently by viewing angle and lighting.
- Cut and handle the coated surface with care.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBS Dichroic glass?
Dichroic glass is known for showing different colors depending on light and viewing angle. Ancient examples include the Roman Lycurgus Cup, whose color shift came from tiny gold and silver particles within the glass. Modern art dichroic glass uses a different thin-film coating approach: very thin metal or metal-oxide layers on the glass surface reflect some wavelengths of light while allowing others to pass through. CBS Dichroic glass applies this coating over a base glass, and the coating is on one side only.

What base glass is it on?
