The Stell Strips pattern arranges the coating into parallel bands that run across the sheet in even strips, giving a clean linear rhythm. Over those strips sits a Mixture Tropical Rays coating, a warm blend of tropical tones that varies from strip to strip. The pattern is available on clear and black base, and the base sets how brightly the strips glow. The strips themselves run at a roughly three quarter inch scale. This pattern is by artist Chris Stell.
One side holds the dichroic coating, so the strips shift color with light and viewing angle. Tropical Rays moves through warm spectrum hues, golds and corals and greens lighting up the bands at different angles. On clear base the strips read translucent and sunny; on black base the tropical tones turn vivid against the dark.
Results vary with kiln and project, so always test a small piece before committing.
