Warm caramel brown, opaque, with a rounded, slightly irregular shape and a glossy skin, each ball an even nut brown with a lighter highlight on top. It is a lighter, redder brown than chocolate.
A frit ball is glass frit fused into a round bead about 3 to 6 mm across; bags weigh one half ounce, around 100 to 130 balls. The glass is COE96, System 96 compatible, and belongs only with tested COE96 glass. Tree trunks, acorns, coffee beans and animal noses are natural jobs for it, softening a design where black would be too hard.
Chestnut sits comfortably with white, cream, pale green and slate blue balls for natural textures. Over black it reads as a warm highlight; over white it is a clean brown dot. A tack fuse keeps the rounded bead, and a full fuse flattens it into a soft edged spot. In an autumn piece a run of mixed sizes scattered under a bare branch reads as fallen nuts on the ground.
