This decal sheet carries eight owl designs printed in a bold, graphic style. The palette centers on deep navy blue and warm amber gold, with cream and white areas providing contrast and definition. Each owl takes a distinct pose: a large navy owl at upper left holds a small sprig; a wide horizontal owl soars with wings spread; a rounder owl shows two disc-flower eyes; a small owl carries a dotted body and gold beak; another faces forward with checkered wings; a big rotund owl anchors the sheet with oversized eyes; a striped-chested owl perches on thin legs; and a lighter open-winged owl closes the lower section.
These water-slide decals add a nature-themed accent to finished fused glass. Soak a cut decal in clean, room-temperature water for 30 to 60 seconds until it slides freely from its paper backing, position it on clean, dry, pre-fired glass, and smooth trapped water and air outward from the center with a soft squeegee or your fingertip. Let the piece dry completely before loading the kiln. Because the decal fires on top of existing glass rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, it works with any COE glass in your studio without a COE match.
How many owls are on a sheet? Each sheet holds eight individual owl designs in a range of sizes, a practical fit for accent tiles, jewelry-scale fusing, or decorative panels where a repeating bird motif is the goal.
Do these decals work with the COE glass I already have? Yes. Because the decal fires onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, no COE matching is needed. Clean, fully pre-fired glass of any COE accepts these decals.
How do I apply a water-slide decal from this sheet? Cut the decal away from the sheet and soak it in clean, room-temperature water for 30 to 60 seconds until it slides freely from its backing paper. Slide it into position on clean, dry, pre-fired glass, then smooth water and air outward from the center with a soft squeegee or fingertip. Let the piece dry completely before firing.
Can I use individual owls on separate projects? Yes. Each owl is a distinct element and can be trimmed apart with scissors or a craft knife. Apply only what a project needs and store the rest of the sheet flat in a cool, dry place.
Specifications
SKU: 161253 Sold as a single printed decal sheet Decals per sheet: 8 owls Palette: navy blue, amber gold, and cream Firing range: 1275 to 1380 degrees F Works with any COE glass Sheet size: 5.25 x 4 inches Working Notes
Apply decals only to clean, fully pre-fired glass. Skin oil, kiln wash residue, or dust can prevent smooth adhesion and cause lifting or bubbling during firing. After smoothing the decal into position, let the piece dry completely before loading the kiln, as a damp decal can shift or develop surface irregularities under heat.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a starting point only, not a guarantee of results): This is a full-color decal, which is semi-translucent and reads best on white or light glass, losing strength on medium to dark glass. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees F and fire slowly below 500 degrees F. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass. 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees F, hold 20 min. 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees F, hold 15 min. 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees F, hold 15 min. 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees F, hold 10 min. Then to 1275 to 1380 degrees F, hold about 10 min. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
