This decal sheet carries twelve distinct botanical leaf illustrations printed in full, naturalistic color. The designs span a variety of foliage forms: broad heart-shaped pads, rounded lobed leaves, lance-shaped blades, and pointed ovals. Each leaf is rendered with detailed interior markings, including spots, mottled color fields, and traced vein networks. The palette runs through deep forest greens and bright limes, accented with creamy yellows, rusty orange, and white vein tracery, and every one of the twelve designs is unique in shape, color, and pattern.
Colorful Leaves is a water-slide decal sheet for glass fusers who want detailed botanical imagery on finished work. Because these decals fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a compatible layer, they work with any COE glass. Cut the leaf you want from the sheet, soak it briefly in water until the image releases from its backing, slide it into position on clean pre-fired glass, smooth out water and air with a soft tool, and let it dry completely before firing. Once fired, the image bonds permanently to the glass surface.
Can these decals be used with any COE glass? Yes. These water-slide decals are fired onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fused as a compatible layer, so they work with any COE glass.
How many designs are on the sheet? Twelve leaf illustrations, each unique in shape, color, and surface pattern. They can be cut apart and used individually or grouped together.
How will the colors appear on clear glass? Full-color decals fire somewhat translucent on clear glass. On tinted or opaque base glass the colors read more vividly. Test on a scrap piece first to see the result for your glass and kiln.
Can I cut individual decals and save the rest? Yes. Cut only what you need and store the remainder flat, away from moisture and direct sunlight, for later projects.
Specifications
SKU: 163345 Sold as a single printed water-slide decal sheet Twelve full-color botanical leaf designs Firing range: 1275 to 1380 degrees F Compatible with any COE glass (applied to a pre-fired surface) Working Notes
Apply decals only to clean, pre-fired glass. Smooth each decal carefully to push out trapped water and air pockets, then let it dry completely before loading the kiln, as incomplete drying can cause bubbling during the fire. Full-color decals fire somewhat translucent on clear glass, so final color intensity depends on your base glass. A test piece using your intended glass is the best way to preview the result before committing to a finished work.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point, not a guarantee of results): On fused glass this full-color print fires to a final range of 1275 to 1380 degrees F, held about 10 minutes. Full-color prints are semi-translucent, so they read best on white or light glass and lose strength on medium to dark glass. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 min. 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 min. 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 min. 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 min. Then to 1275 to 1380 degrees, hold about 10 min. Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first.
