This decal sheet places 15 individual owl illustrations across a single sheet, each rendered in a detailed naturalistic style drawn from vintage ornithological illustration. The collection spans a variety of species and poses: barn owls with pale, heart-shaped faces, horned owls with prominent ear tufts, and spotted, barred, and streaked owls shown perching, standing upright, and turning front-facing or in profile. The palette is warm and earthy throughout, built from tawny browns, rusty orange-browns, creamy whites, warm tans, and deep charcoal markings, each bird drawn with careful feather detail.
These are water-slide fusible glass decals that fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass. Because they adhere to the surface rather than fusing as a compatible layer, no COE matching is required. To apply, briefly soak a decal in water until it releases from its paper backing, slide it into position on clean, pre-fired glass, smooth out trapped water and air, and allow it to dry fully before placing the piece in the kiln.
How many owl designs are on the sheet?
The sheet carries 15 detailed owl decals, each a different species or pose, on a single 5.25 x 4 inch sheet.
Do these work with my glass regardless of COE?
Yes. These decals fire onto the glass surface rather than fusing as a layer, so no COE matching is required. The base glass must be clean and pre-fired before you apply a decal.
How do I apply a water-slide decal?
Soak the decal in clean water for about 30 to 60 seconds until it slides freely from its backing. Position it on your dry, pre-fired glass, then slide the paper backing out from underneath. Use a soft tool or squeegee to smooth the decal flat and push out water or air pockets. Let the piece dry completely before loading it into the kiln.
Will the colors look the same on clear glass as on white?
These are full-color digital decals, and they can fire somewhat transparent on clear glass. For the most saturated, solid color from this warm palette, fire onto white or opaque base glass. Testing on a sample piece is the most reliable way to confirm results on your specific glass.

Working Notes
Apply decals to clean, pre-fired glass only. After the decal has dried flat on the surface, fire within the manufacturer's stated range of 1275 to 1380 degrees F. Because these are digital decals, they can fire somewhat transparent on clear glass. Opaque or white base glass produces the most saturated results from this palette of warm browns, tans, and creamy tones. The ideal temperature within the range depends on your kiln and the thickness of your glass.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Firing range 1275 to 1380 degrees F. These are full-color prints that fire semi-translucent, so they read best on white or light glass and lose strength on medium to dark glass. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then to 1275 to 1380 degrees, hold about 10 minutes. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
