Copper Penny Decals Sheet

This fusible decal sheet carries roughly two dozen round, copper-toned decals modeled on the US Lincoln cent. Both faces of the coin appear across the sheet: the obverse with Lincoln's portrait and the coin's edge lettering, and the reverse with the Lincoln Memorial. The decals show a range of copper tones, from bright, freshly minted copper to slightly warmer hues, which adds visual interest when several pieces are used together. The round decals are laid out in rows, making it simple to cut individual coins before soaking.

These are water-slide decals designed to fire onto the surface of pre-fired fused glass. Because they bond to the surface rather than fusing as a compatible layer, no COE matching is required. To apply, cut out a decal, soak it in clean water for about 30 seconds until it slides freely off the backing paper, position it on a clean, smooth pre-fired glass piece, smooth out any trapped water or air bubbles with a soft squeegee or fingertip, allow the piece to dry fully, then fire in the kiln according to the schedule below.

What designs are on the sheet?
The sheet includes both the obverse and the reverse of the US Lincoln cent. The obverse shows Lincoln's portrait with the surrounding coin text, and the reverse shows the Lincoln Memorial. Having both faces on one sheet lets you vary the imagery within a project or across a series.

Will these work with my glass?
Yes. Decals fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than between layers, so no COE matching is required. The base piece must be fully fused with a smooth surface before the decal is applied.

Can I apply decals to colored or textured glass?
Decals adhere to any clean, smooth, pre-fired surface regardless of glass color. Avoid heavily textured surfaces, since the decal needs to lie flat against the glass to bond evenly during firing.

Working Notes

Apply decals only to clean, dry, smooth, pre-fired glass. Remove any oils, fingerprints, or residue from the surface before soaking and sliding the decal into place. Smooth out all bubbles thoroughly and allow the piece to dry completely before loading the kiln. The copper tones carry a metallic finish, so fire in the roughly 1240 to 1370 degree range, kept toward the lower end to preserve the density of the metallic finish. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small sample piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass.

Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point only, not a guarantee of results): Final firing temperature is roughly 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 DPH to 185 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 20 min.
150 DPH to 300 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
250 DPH to 500 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
600 DPH to 1000 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Then advance to 1240 to 1370 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first.
