Dolphin Murrini/ Millefiore COE96

Each slice in this jar shows a soft sky-blue dolphin shape on a milky white and pale blue ground. The contrast is gentle and tonal rather than sharp, so the dolphin reads as a subtle deeper-aqua figure within the light field, showing best on the larger slices and once the piece is fused. The overall effect is quiet and aquatic.

Murrini, also called millefiori, are small cross-section slices of patterned glass cane. Place individual slices on the surface of a fused glass piece and fire them in to add detail to jewelry, pendants, plates, dishes, suncatchers, and ornaments.

What glass do I use with these murrini?
These are COE96 murrini. Use them only with glass of the same COE. Using glass of a different coefficient of expansion can introduce stress and lead to cracking during or after firing.

Sold by the jar as an assortment of slices; slice sizes and counts vary from jar to jar.

How do I use these in a fused glass project?
Arrange individual slices on the surface of your prepared COE96 glass before firing; they function as surface accents and fuse permanently into the glass. A full fuse melts them flat and flush, blending the dolphin into the surrounding field; a tack fuse preserves more of the slice's raised profile and a slightly domed look.
