Can I use these decals on colored or textured glass?
Yes. These water-slide decals adhere to any pre-fired glass surface regardless of color or COE. A smooth, flat surface produces the cleanest bond and sharpest edge. Lighter and clearer backgrounds let the gold metallic tone show most fully, while darker glass absorbs more of the reflective quality.

How many decals does the sheet contain?
The sheet holds many small dragon designs, each roughly 0.5 to 0.75 inch. The designs vary in outline and pose, giving you enough motifs for several individual pieces or one larger composition using multiple designs.

Do I need to match the COE of the decal to my base glass?

How do I apply a water-slide decal?
Cut out the individual decal you want to use. Soak it in clean water for a few seconds until the design slides freely from its paper backing. Position it on your clean, pre-fired glass surface and slip the backing paper out from underneath while keeping the decal in place. Smooth away water and air bubbles with a soft tool or fingertip, working from the center outward. Allow the piece to dry completely before placing it in the kiln.

Working Notes

Apply each decal to a clean, dust-free pre-fired glass surface. Because the finish on this sheet is a single-tone gold metallic, plan your firing toward the lower end of the range to keep the gold dense. Every kiln fires differently, so test with a small sample piece before committing a finished work. Anneal according to the thickness of your glass.

Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Firing range 1240 to 1370 degrees F, kept toward the lower end to keep the color dense. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then to 1240 to 1370 degrees, hold about 10 minutes. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
