Egyptian Blue Frit Balls COE90

A bright cerulean, the blue of a swimming pool, opaque and even across every ball, with a soft satin gloss and one or two larger balls showing a faintly textured cap.

Frit balls are small round beads of fused glass, about 3 to 6 mm, that fire onto a layup as instant dots. The glass is Bullseye 000164 Egyptian Blue Opalescent, partly transparent cold and opalizing in the kiln. Bullseye glass, COE90; fire it only alongside tested COE90 glass. Each half ounce bag gives you about 100 to 130 balls for pool water, summer sky dots and bird plumage.

What should I watch for with Egyptian Blue?
It contains copper, so Bullseye lists possible dark line reactions with sulfur and selenium glasses and the Reactive styles; keep it off French Vanilla and the cadmium reds, oranges and yellows unless you want an outlined dot. At tack fuse and slump temperatures the exposed surface can develop a metallic gray film that usually disappears at a full fuse. Buff the balls dry before firing, since traces of glass cleaner make the sheen more likely.
