Flower Welcome Textured Fusing Tile

The Flower Welcome Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a ceramic tile that transfers a floral pattern to the underside of glass during fusing. It is used in place of a standard kiln shelf tile: glass is laid on top of the primed tile, and as the glass softens and fuses it picks up the flower welcome texture from the surface below.

The tile measures 6.5 inches by 6 inches, with a 10.5 inch diagonal. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile to create a dramatic patterned surface. Like all ceramic kiln accessories from Creative Paradise, it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when prepped with a glass separator or kiln wash before each use.

How does this texture tile work?
It sits in the kiln as a textured base in place of a standard shelf tile. Glass is laid on top of the primed tile and fused. As the glass softens, it settles into the tile surface, picking up the flower welcome pattern on its underside.

Can I fuse frit directly on the tile?
Yes. Frit may be fused on the texture tile to create a patterned surface. Prime the tile first, spread the frit, and fuse using a schedule suited to your glass.

What COE glass can I use with this tile?
Any COE. Ceramic texture tiles are COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the tile before use?
Apply a glass separator or kiln wash following the separator manufacturer's instructions and allow it to dry completely before placing glass on the tile. Re-coat as needed between firings.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a fusing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass on the tile.
• Set the primed tile in the kiln as you would a shelf tile. Lay your glass on top and fuse so the texture transfers to the underside of the finished piece.
• Frit may also be fused directly on the tile to create a patterned surface. Spread the frit on the primed tile and fuse using the schedule below.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a fusing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the glass from the tile. Re-coat the tile with separator or kiln wash as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): suggested for a double layer of COE96 glass with frit.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
