• Prime the cavity before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before adding frit.
• Use 25 grams of frit for a lighter, more delicate ornament, or increase to 70 grams for a thicker, sturdier heart. Weigh your frit and test a first run before committing to a larger batch.
• Fill with frit, small billets, or sheet scrap cut to fit the cavity.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a fusing schedule matched to your specific glass, and adjust the anneal soak temperature for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast piece. Reprime the mold between firings as needed.

Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested starting approach, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first, then adjust for your glass and kiln.

• Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour to minimize thermal shock.
• Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
• Add a controlled cool with an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 950 F for COE96, or about 900 F for COE90.
