French Vanilla Frit Balls COE90

Ivory to cream, opaque, and slightly ovoid rather than truly round, these balls look like grains of rice pudding. The color is a warm off white with a faint yellow undertone, not a cold white.

A frit ball is glass frit fired into a bead of roughly 3 to 6 mm, sold here in half ounce bags of about 100 to 130. The COE is 90, so this Bullseye glass keeps to tested COE90 layups. The glass is Bullseye 000137 French Vanilla Opalescent, a sulfur bearing opal known for strong reactions.

What does French Vanilla react with?
Copper colors such as Turquoise Blue, Teal Green, Jade Green and Egyptian Blue, and gold bearing lead glasses, which form a dark interface of copper or lead sulfide against it; used deliberately, a French Vanilla ball on a copper blue fires with an earth toned halo. Bullseye also notes the color can vary after fusing and may whiten with repeated firings, so use balls from one bag on a piece and keep firings to a minimum. The glass is very viscous and holds a rounder profile than softer colors, which suits raised tack fused texture.
