Prime all six cavities before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer , and let it dry completely before adding glass.
Fill each cavity with about 6 grams of frit. Frit size and fill level affect the finished surface, so weigh your glass and test a first run before committing to a full batch.
The mold is COE agnostic. Match your firing schedule to the glass COE you are using.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour to protect the mold and allow the glass to heat evenly.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
Include a controlled cool with an anneal soak matched to your glass type.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast beads. Re-coat the mold with primer before the next firing.
Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting point based on Colour de Verre general guidance, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first.
Ramp rate: no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour through the full ramp.
Top temperature: no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
Anneal soak: about 950 F for COE96, or about 900 F for COE90.
Cool in a controlled way to room temperature before opening the kiln.
