Gingerbread Man and Gift

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.

• Prime both cavities before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer, and let the coating dry completely before adding glass.
• Fill each cavity with about 25 grams of frit. Frit size and color layering determine the surface texture and look of the finished pieces.
• For an embellished finish, run a second, cooler firing after the initial cast to fuse dichroic beads, noodles, stringers, or twisted cane into the surface.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a fuse schedule matched to your glass and adjust the anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast pieces. Re-coat the mold with primer before the next use.

Suggested Firing Schedule (Colour de Verre general guidelines)

This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first when the result matters.

• Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour during the initial climb.
• Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C) at the top segment.
• Hold at the top temperature briefly, then drop to an anneal soak: about 950 F for COE96, or about 900 F for COE90.
• Hold the anneal soak, then cool slowly to room temperature before opening the kiln.
