Hamsa Hands Decal Sheet

This sheet holds eleven hamsa hand motifs printed in a warm gold metallic finish. Each decal depicts the traditional palm-shaped hamsa symbol: a wide, rounded form at the top narrowing toward the base, with two symmetrical thumb forms flanking three center fingers. The interiors are richly ornamented with scrollwork, floral clusters, and eye medallions, each hand carrying slightly different detail while keeping a consistent decorative character. These are water-slide transfers designed for glass fusing. You soak the decal, slide the film onto a clean, pre-fired glass surface, smooth out air and water, and let it dry before firing in the kiln. On this sheet, each hamsa is rendered in a symmetrical, ornate style with scrollwork, botanicals, and eye motifs filling the interior of the palm. All eleven decals carry a gold metallic finish, which creates a warm contrast on both light and dark glass.

What glass can I use with these decals?
Any COE glass works. The decals are fired onto the surface of pre-fired glass, not fused within a glass stack, so COE compatibility between decal and base glass is not a concern. Your base piece should be fully fired and have a smooth, clean surface before you apply the decal.

How do I apply a water-slide decal to glass?
Cut the decal from the sheet, then soak it in room-temperature water until the film begins to release from the paper backing, about 30 seconds. Slide the film onto your clean, pre-fired glass, center it, and smooth out water and air bubbles with a soft squeegee or your fingertip. Let the piece dry completely before placing it in the kiln. Any moisture trapped under the decal can cause cracking or lifting during the firing cycle.

Working Notes

Apply decals to a thoroughly clean, smooth, pre-fired glass surface. A quick wipe with isopropyl alcohol before application removes oils and residues that can prevent adhesion. Smooth out all air and water from beneath the film and allow the piece to dry fully before firing. As a single-tone metallic sheet, it fires in the 1240 to 1370 degree range and keeps toward the lower end to preserve density.

Suggested Firing Schedule (the manufacturer's recommended starting point, not a guarantee of results):
This single-tone metallic sheet fires to a peak of 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 DPH to 185 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 20 minutes
150 DPH to 300 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 minutes
250 DPH to 500 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 minutes
600 DPH to 1000 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 minutes

Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first.
