Harvest Textured Fusing Tile

The Harvest Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a 7 inch by 7 inch ceramic tile that imprints a harvest texture onto the bottom surface of fused glass. Place a glass sheet or prepared fused blank on top of the primed tile and fire: as the glass softens in the kiln, it settles into the tile's relief and picks up the surface pattern.

Frit can also be arranged and fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece. Like all ceramic kiln tiles, this one is COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. The tile footprint is 7 inches by 7 inches with a 10 inch diagonal.

What does the Harvest Textured Fusing Tile do?
It transfers a harvest texture to the underside of glass placed on top of it during fusing. Frit arranged on the tile surface and fused creates a textured, patterned piece as well.

What COE glass can I use?
Any COE. Ceramic texture tiles are COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the tile before fusing?
Coat the tile surface with a kiln wash or a boron nitride primer following the manufacturer's instructions, and let it dry completely before placing glass or frit on top.

Can I fuse frit directly on the tile?
Yes. Arrange frit on the primed tile surface and fire using a full fuse schedule. The harvest texture creates a dramatic pattern on the fused piece.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a fusing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, following the manufacturer's instructions and letting it dry completely before adding glass.
• Place a glass sheet or fused blank directly on the prepared tile surface. As the kiln heats, the glass softens and settles into the texture, picking up the harvest pattern on its underside.
• Frit may also be fused on the tile to create a patterned piece. Arrange frit on the primed tile and fire using a full fuse schedule matched to your glass.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a firing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the glass piece. Recoat the tile with kiln wash or primer as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96, two full layers):

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
