Haunted House Textured Fusing Tile

The Haunted House Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a 12 inch by 12 inch ceramic texture tile that imprints a haunted house relief pattern onto the surface of glass during a kiln firing. To use it, place a prepared glass blank on top of the primed tile and fuse normally. As the glass softens, it flows into the tile's texture and picks up the pattern, carrying it on the finished piece. The center circle area is 10 inches in diameter, which defines the effective working area for round or square blanks placed on the tile.

Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece without a glass base. Like all ceramic kiln tiles, this one is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when primed and cared for properly.

What COE glass works with this tile?
Any COE. Ceramic texture tiles are COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the tile before use?
Follow the glass separator or kiln wash manufacturer's instructions to apply and cure a separator or kiln wash to the tile surface. A boron nitride spray such as ZYP works well. Let it dry completely before placing glass on the tile.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a fusing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer following the manufacturer's instructions, and let it dry completely before placing glass on it.
• Place the prepared glass blank directly on top of the primed tile surface. The glass will pick up the haunted house texture as it softens and flows during the firing.
• Frit may also be fused on the tile surface. Scatter frit into the textured surface of the primed tile and fire with a schedule suited to your glass.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a fusing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the fused piece. Re coat the tile with primer as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): suggested for a double layer of glass with frit.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
