Large Leaves Decal Sheet

This decal sheet carries six large botanical leaf designs printed in warm gold metallic line work, each built almost entirely from its vein structure. The six forms are distinct: a lobed oak-style leaf with an open skeletal network, a rounded poplar-type leaf filled with fine net veining, a heart-shaped leaf whose veins radiate from a central stem, an elongated toothed leaf with a warm reddish central rib, a classic multi-point maple leaf, and a fan-shaped ginkgo leaf with its signature parallel ribs. Fired onto glass, the gold line work reads as a delicate botanical skeleton with a metallic sheen.

These are water-slide decals that fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass. Because the design bonds to an already-fired surface rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, it works with any COE glass. Soak a decal briefly in warm water until it releases from the paper backing, slide it into position on clean pre-fired glass, smooth out water and air bubbles from the center outward, let it dry completely, then fire.

What projects can I use these on?
Any pre-fired glass surface, including fused plates, tiles, pendants, bowls, and decorative panels. There is no COE restriction because the decal is a surface treatment rather than a fused glass layer. Plan the decal firing to come after all other kiln work on that piece.

How do I apply a water-slide decal?
Soak the decal for about 30 seconds until it loosens on its backing, slide it off the paper onto clean pre-fired glass, then press out any remaining water and air from the center toward the edges. Allow the piece to dry fully before loading the kiln.

Can I trim the leaves apart?
Yes. Cut individual leaves from the dry sheet with sharp scissors, then soak and apply as usual. This lets you fit a single leaf into a smaller focal area without using the rest of the sheet.

Working Notes

Apply decals only to clean, fully pre-fired glass; oils, dust, and fingerprints can prevent smooth adhesion, so handle cleaned glass by its edges. Let each applied decal dry completely before firing, since trapped moisture can cause bubbling or lifting during the early ramp. Because these are single-tone metallic decals, fire them in the 1240 to 1370 degree range and keep toward the lower end to preserve density. Every kiln fires differently, so treat the schedule below as a starting point, anneal for the thickness of your glass, and test a small piece first.

Suggested Firing Schedule (the manufacturer's recommendation, a starting point only): This single-tone metallic sheet fires to a peak of 1240 to 1370 degrees F, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. 50 DPH to 185 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 20 min. 150 DPH to 300 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min. 250 DPH to 500 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min. 600 DPH to 1000 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min. 1000 DPH to 1240 to 1370 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min. Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Results vary by kiln, glass thickness, and surface preparation, so test a small piece first.
