This decal sheet carries eight large snowflake designs. They come in two looks: classic hexagonal crystalline snowflakes with intricate branching arms in an opaque white or frosted tone, and radiating forms with a warm pale-gold metallic sheen, including a many-pointed starburst. The designs are sized as focal accents for ornaments, tiles, fused panels, and serving pieces.
These are water-slide decals applied to pre-fired glass and re-fired to bond them to the surface. Because the decal fires onto an already-fired piece, it does not need to match the COE of the base glass and can be used on any substrate. Soak a decal in warm water until it releases from its backing, slide it into position on clean glass, smooth out water and air with a soft squeegee or fingertip, and let the piece dry completely before firing.
Can I apply the snowflakes separately at different times?
Yes. Each snowflake is its own decal. Cut them apart with scissors or a craft knife, soak only the ones you plan to use, and store the rest flat and dry for a future project.
Do these decals require a specific COE glass?
No. The decal fires onto the surface of glass that has already been fused or slumped, so it does not become part of a fused stack that needs COE matching. Use them on any pre-fired glass.
What is the difference between the white and the gold designs?
The sheet mixes opaque white crystalline snowflakes with pale-gold metallic designs. Both the white and the gold designs fire in the range noted in the Working Notes.
Do I need to seal the decal after firing?
No. Once properly fired, the decal is bonded to the glass surface and needs no additional topcoat or sealant.

Working Notes
Clean your pre-fired glass surface with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth and let it dry before sliding the decal into place. Position carefully, as repositioning a wet decal can stretch or tear it. Make sure the decal is fully dry before loading the kiln, since residual moisture can cause bubbling or lifting during the initial burn-off phase.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a starting point only, not a guarantee of results): Fire to roughly 1240 to 1370 degrees F, held about 10 minutes, keeping toward the lower end to preserve the density of the print. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 min.
150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 min.
250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 min.
600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 min.
Then to 1240 to 1370 degrees, hold about 10 min.
Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
