In the bag these transparent balls run a deep garnet red, the color of black cherries: the smallest catch light as a clear cranberry glow while the largest go nearly opaque at the center. A few show tiny internal bubbles and a matte speck or two on the surface.
The name is accurate to the glass, not to the pile: these are fused from Light Purple transparent COE96 glass, and light passing through a rounded ball travels through far more glass than it does through a thin sheet, so the colour deepens to garnet and wine. Expect that rich, dark red violet rather than a pale lavender.
Frit balls are small round beads of fused glass, about 3 to 6 mm, that fire onto a layup as ready made dots. These are COE96 balls of System 96 compatible glass; give them tested COE96 company. Roughly 100 to 130 fill each half ounce bag. Use them for grapes, berries and the shadow side of a floral piece.
