Marigold Opalescent dots are a rich golden yellow that tips toward orange at the edges, the color of the flower rather than a lemon. The slices are opaque and glossy, and a pile of them reads a shade deeper and warmer than a plain yellow would.
Each dot is about 2 to 3 mm thick, cut from 6 mm cane, and rated COE96; combine it only with COE96 glass. Gold reads warmer than yellow on every base. Use it for marigold and sunflower heads on green, honeycomb cells on a brown base, egg yolk on a white plate, or as the golden step in a harvest border. It pairs naturally with orange and dark amber in an autumn palette.
How does marigold read on a base? Fully opaque, so it holds as a warm gold on black, white or clear. On black it looks like egg yolk; on white it reads as a mellow orange-yellow. It suits marigolds and sunflowers, autumn leaves, honey and beeswax themes, and the warm yellow in a fire or harvest polka field.
