This fusible decal sheet carries a full uppercase alphabet in a classic serif capital typeface. The letterforms show elegant wedge-shaped serifs, strong stroke contrast, and refined proportions in the Roman inscriptional tradition, the same lettering style used for formal engraving and titling. All characters are printed in solid black and arranged in tidy horizontal rows running A through Z, with multiple copies of each letter spread across the sheet. Two full rows of matching ampersand symbols line the bottom of the sheet.
Each character on the sheet is a water-slide transfer decal that fires directly onto the surface of pre-fired glass. Trim the letter or symbol you need, soak it briefly in room-temperature water until it slides free from its backing paper, position it on a clean pre-fired glass piece, smooth out water and air bubbles working from the center outward, and let the piece dry completely before loading the kiln. Because the decals bond to the glass surface rather than fusing as a structural glass layer, they are compatible with any COE glass you already have in your studio.
What is on one sheet? One 5.25 by 4 inch sheet includes the full A through Z uppercase alphabet with multiple copies of each letter, plus two rows of matching ampersand symbols. That gives you enough characters to spell names, initials, monograms, or short words.
Will these decals work with my existing glass? Yes. These decals fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, so they work with any COE glass in your studio, whether 90 COE or 96 COE.
Can I cut individual letters from the sheet? Yes. Trim around whichever characters you need with scissors or a craft knife. The sheet provides multiple copies of each letter, so you can arrange names, initials, monograms, or short words across one piece or distribute letters among several separate projects.
Do I need any special supplies to apply the decals? No special supplies are required. A shallow dish of room-temperature water, a soft squeegee or your fingertip, and a lint-free cloth are sufficient. Soak, slide, smooth, dry, and fire.
Specifications
SKU: 172157 Sheet size: 5.25 x 4 inches Design: full A through Z uppercase serif alphabet with multiple copies per letter, plus two rows of ampersands Firing range: 1240 to 1370 degrees F Working Notes
Apply decals only to clean, grease-free, pre-fired glass. After soaking and positioning a decal, smooth gently from the center outward to remove all water and air bubbles, then allow the piece to dry completely before loading the kiln. Firing a wet or partially dry decal can cause lifting or blistering. Keep decal sections flat and avoid overlapping them during firing.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Firing range 1240 to 1370 degrees F, kept toward the lower end to keep the color dense. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then to 1240 to 1370 degrees, hold about 10 minutes. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
