This 5.25 by 4 inch sheet carries six circular moon decals. Every circle depicts a distinct lunar phase or surface view: a slender crescent, quarter phases, gibbous stages, and a fully illuminated disc covered in crater detail. The linework is fine and cross-hatched throughout, printed in deep navy blue on a light ground in the manner of vintage astronomical engraving. One of the six discs shows a full moon marked with radiating crater ray systems that fan outward across the surface, giving the set visual variety. The decals are arranged across the sheet in two rows of three.
These are water-slide fusible glass decals made to be fired onto the surface of pre-fired glass. Because the decal is applied as a surface transfer rather than fused as a compatible glass layer, this sheet works with any COE glass you have on hand. To apply, soak a decal briefly in room-temperature water until it releases from its backing paper, slide it into position on a clean piece of pre-fired glass, then smooth from the center outward with a soft squeegee or tool to remove trapped water and air pockets. Allow the decal to dry completely before loading your kiln. The fired result is a permanent, detailed image suitable for pendants, tiles, plates, panels, and any other fused glass surface.
Can I use these decals on any COE glass I already have?
Yes. Because the decal is fired onto the surface of glass that has already completed a fusing or slumping cycle, there is no glass compatibility concern. These decals work on any COE glass.
How many decals are on the sheet?
The sheet measures 5.25 by 4 inches and includes six moon decals, each a different lunar phase or surface view.
What surface preparation does the glass need before I apply a decal?
The glass must be pre-fired and thoroughly clean. Remove any oils, fingerprints, kiln separator residue, or other surface contamination before applying the decal. Any residue trapped beneath the decal can cause it to lift or blister during the second firing. Avoid handling the glass surface with bare hands after cleaning.
What does the firing range for this sheet mean in practice?
This single-color sheet fires in a range of roughly 1240 to 1370 degrees Fahrenheit, kept toward the lower end to preserve density. The complete suggested firing schedule is in the Working Notes below. Always test a small piece in your own kiln before firing a finished piece, as every kiln behaves differently.

Working Notes
Apply decals only to glass that has already been fused or slumped and is free of surface contamination. Soak each decal in room-temperature water for approximately 30 to 60 seconds, or until it slides freely from the backing paper. Position it on the glass and smooth outward from the center to remove water and air. Allow the decal to dry completely before placing the piece in the kiln. Do not touch the decal face with bare hands after placement, as skin oils can interfere with adhesion.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. Ramp 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. Ramp 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then ramp to a final 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes, staying toward the lower end to preserve density. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
