Mustache Decal Sheet

This decal sheet holds a full range of solid black mustache silhouettes. The styles cover a broad spread: a sweeping handlebar with upturned curled ends, a wide chevron, a drooping Fu Manchu, a compact pencil strip, a full walrus, a close-trimmed natural shape, and several more distinctive cuts. A cluster of elongated pointed and curved shapes adds thin, wispy accent pieces to the mix. Every design is a flat black silhouette arranged across the sheet.

These water-slide decals are fired onto the surface of pre-fired glass. Because the decal adheres to the surface rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, the sheet works with any COE glass. Soak a decal briefly in clean water until it releases from its backing, slide it onto your clean pre-fired glass, smooth out bubbles and pooled water with a soft squeegee or fingertip, and let the piece dry completely before loading the kiln.

How do I apply these decals?
Soak a cut decal in clean water until it slides freely from its backing, position it on clean, dry, pre-fired glass, then smooth from the center outward to work out water and air. Let the piece dry fully before firing.

What glass can I use with these decals?
Any COE glass. They fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a compatible layer, so no COE matching is required.

Can I cut individual designs apart before soaking?
Yes. Use sharp scissors or a craft knife to separate individual shapes, leaving a small margin of clear film around each design to keep it intact during the transfer.

Do these decals have a metallic finish?
No. All the mustache designs are solid black silhouettes, so they fire toward the lower end of the range.

Working Notes

Apply decals only to clean, pre-fired glass. Fingerprints, oils, or kiln wash residue on the surface can prevent proper adhesion. After sliding the decal into position, smooth from the center outward to work out any water pockets, then allow the piece to dry fully before placing it in the kiln. Because every kiln fires differently, test a small piece before committing a finished work to any schedule.

Suggested Firing Schedule (the manufacturer's recommendation, a starting point only): Firing range is roughly 1240 to 1370 degrees F; these designs fire toward the lower end to preserve density. This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee of results. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 DPH to 185 degrees F, HOLD/SOAK 20 min.
150 DPH to 300 degrees F, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
250 DPH to 500 degrees F, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
600 DPH to 1000 degrees F, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Then to 1240 to 1370 degrees F, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Anneal for the thickness of the glass.
