Oceanside Aventurine Green (style 128-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed transparent green glass with aventurine sparkle.
Appearance
The frit is a deep forest green, transparent, with fine metallic glints running through the granules. The aventurine sparkle comes from tiny crystals suspended in the glass and catches the light like flecks of gold-green among the crushed pieces.
Working notes
As crushed glass, frit melts faster than sheet, so it flows into pooled color at fusing heat. As a transparent it carries light and deepens in thicker layers. The aventurine sparkle shows best in coarser grades and heavier layers, and holds through firing. Finer grades blend into smoother green washes.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in graded sizes for controlled color work. Sprinkle it over a base for shading and blending, pack it into channels for pooled color, or fill a mold for casting and pate de verre. Finer grades melt into smooth washes while coarser grades hold more texture and dimension. It is System 96 96 COE, so it melts in with the rest of the System 96 family.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
