Oceanside Chestnut Opalescent (style OGT21174SF) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible sheet glass, a warm chestnut brown in a smooth opalescent sheet.
Appearance
The photo shows a warm reddish brown in the tone of a chestnut, smooth and even across the face. The color is opalescent and solid, reading as a rich earthy brown rather than a see-through glass. Light gives it a soft glossy sheen.
Working notes
The smooth face fires flat and glossy on either side. As an opalescent brown it sits as a solid color over any base and holds its tone through firing. A full fuse melts it smooth into the surface, and a tack fuse keeps the edges of stacked pieces.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Format and sizes
This color is sold as 3mm smooth sheet glass. Choose your size from the options on this page.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
