Oceanside Light Purple (style 142-96) is System 96 tested compatible 96 COE fusible frit, purple transparent crushed glass.
Appearance
In the pile the granules read a deep plum to wine purple, since crushed glass stacks darker than a thin sheet. Spread out or fired thin the color lightens toward a clear light purple. As a transparent, the pieces glint and pass light along their edges.
Working notes
Frit has a large surface area, so a thin scatter gives a soft purple wash while a deeper layer builds a richer plum band. As a transparent it shows best over a white or light base that lets the color glow. Coarser grades keep more texture through a tack fuse, and a full fuse melts the pieces smooth.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from powder to coarse. Shade and blend color, build gradients, add texture, or pack a mold for casting.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses with any 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a test tile first.
