Oceanside Orange Opalescent (style OGT27072SF) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible sheet glass, a bright opaque orange opal in a smooth double-rolled surface.
Appearance
This is a saturated pumpkin orange, fully opalescent so no light passes through it. The color runs even and solid across the sheet, with a clean smooth face on both sides and a soft sheen where it catches the light. As an opal it reads as one dense block of color rather than a shaded or streaky glass.
Working notes
Being an opal, this glass shows as a solid color whether you view it on a light box or over a dark surface, which makes it good for bold shapes and backgrounds. The smooth face stays smooth through a full fuse and gains a glossy finish, while a tack fuse holds more of the original edge and dimension. Layered over lighter glass the orange stays opaque and covers what sits beneath it.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated medium on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Format and sizes
Sold as 3mm smooth sheet glass. Choose your size from the options on this page.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
