The Oval Glasslinks Mold from Colour de Verre is a two-mold set that casts twelve oval glass link components in a single firing, enough to complete an entire necklace in one session. Each cavity takes 4 grams of fine or powdered frit, and the fired links emerge ready to connect into a finished piece. Each mold in the set measures 6-5/8 inches by 3-5/8 inches, a footprint that fits comfortably in both studio and home kilns.
Like all ceramic casting molds, this set is COE agnostic. Fill the cavities with fine frit or powder in your chosen glass and fire to shape. Colour de Verre recommends a cooler peak of 1335 to 1350 F (725 to 730 C) with a 25 to 30 minute hold for this mold, which keeps the link detail crisp. The molds are reusable across many firings with proper priming and care.
What does the Oval Glasslinks Mold set make? It casts twelve oval glass link components per firing, with both molds used together in one session. That is enough to assemble a complete necklace from a single fire.
How much frit do I need per cavity? Colour de Verre lists 4 grams of fine or powdered frit per cavity. Weigh your glass and run a test first when the result matters.
What COE glass can I use? Any COE. Ceramic casting molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
What firing temperature does this mold need? Colour de Verre recommends a peak of 1335 to 1350 F (725 to 730 C) with a hold of 25 to 30 minutes, followed by a controlled cool and anneal soak. This is lower than a standard full fuse peak, which suits the fine detail in these small link cavities.
How do I prep the mold before use? Prime all cavities before every use with a boron nitride mold release or a compatible kiln primer. Colour de Verre specifically recommends ZYP BN Lubricoat or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry fully before adding frit so the glass does not stick.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.
Prime all cavities before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry completely before loading frit so the glass releases cleanly after firing.
Fill each cavity with 4 grams of fine or powdered frit. Fine frit and powder pack well into small link cavities and produce clean, detailed results.
The mold set is COE agnostic. Use any fusible glass and match your full firing schedule to the COE you choose.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast links. Re-coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting schedule based on Colour de Verre guidance, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run before committing to a full batch.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour during the initial climb to avoid thermal shock.
Fire to a peak of 1335 to 1350 F (725 to 730 C). This is a cooler peak than a standard full fuse and is specific to this mold. Do not exceed about 1450 F (785 C).
Hold at peak for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool with a controlled drop and add an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 950 F (510 C) for COE96 or about 900 F (482 C) for COE90.
